Dan Terrington, PhD Candidate
Dan joined the RARES group in 2023 for his PhD on the Plains-wanderer. His project aims to address current questions on the status, movement patterns and conservation requirements of Plains-wanderers in western Queensland.
After studying Zoology and Ecology at Monash University, Dan completed an Honours with the Research Ecology group in 2019. His Honours project looked at the ecology of a giant island endemic centipede which preys on seabirds. He spent the next three years working as a field ecologist at Wildlife Unlimited, an environmental consultancy in eastern Victoria. During this time, he also assisted with Monash University studies on nesting and dispersal behaviour of Purple-crowned Fairywrens in the Kimberley and endemic passerines on Norfolk Island.
In his spare time, Dan is a keen birder and twitcher who loves the challenge of searching for rare and endangered species.
